SUSTAINABLE WITCH
an earth lovin’ samhain gathering
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25TH ✫ 11 AM - 5 PM
As the veil thins and the year wanes, we gather around the Wheel of the Year in honor of both what has passed and what is still to come in our inner world, and the world at large.
Sustainable Witch is a full day retreat weaving the ritual of Samhain with practical sustainability, ancestral reverence, and community resilience.
Bring your stories, your surplus, your shadows, your spirit — with the energy of the circle as our guide, we’ll slow down and share space in remembrance, reflection, and regeneration. This event is designed for adults, but is open to all humans. Please note: it does not include childcare so if you plan to bring littles… they will be your responsibility (woven with community care, of course!)
Let's compost the old and sow seeds of a more conscious, connected future, shall we?!
Samhain (pronounced sow-win) is one of the oldest wheel of the year celebrations, also known as the Witches New Year.
At the end of harvest season, it marks the halfway point to the Winter Solstice: the returning to the void, the darkness, the womb.
This is also a time of the “veil thinning” in which connection with the spirit realm and ancestors is prominent, and offerings are given to appease their loved ones from beyond. Fires are lit to reflect protection & fortify the blaze needed to get through the cold winter months. And celebrations are had in community as a last hoorah before heading inward.
Funny enough, this sabbat has inspired many modern day Halloween practices, like carving turnips into faces (much creepier than pumpkins, look it up!) wearing costumes to confuse the spirits, and going door-to-door receiving sweet cakes (trick... or treat?!)
SO… what makes a SUSTAINABLE WITCH?
You might have heard of a Green Witch, one who works with herbs, the land, and the elements... but what makes a sustainable witch unique is their desire to center regeneration & reciprocity.
They compost the old – food, shadows, cycles, and energies that are ready to return to the earth. And they plant the seeds of possibility for a future they may never see, utilizing community care, locally sourced resources, and gifting/upcycling as their way of life. A sustainable witch is not perfect, as no witches claim to be… they are a witch who tends: to their land, their ancestors, their community, and themselves, again and again.
AND YOU, MY DEAR, HAVE THIS MAGIC LIVING WITHIN YOU, TOO.
